OVER A DECADE OF RICH TRADITION

Since its inception in 1997, Chef Jamie Mammano, along with Seth Greenberg & Paul Roiff, have been reshaping Boston’s culinary landscape. Their flagship venture, Mistral, introduced a fusion of French-Mediterranean flavors to the vibrant South End.

In 2006, Mammano and Roiff unveiled Sorellina, a haven for lovers of contemporary regional Italian-Mediterranean cuisine. Boasting an eclectic wine selection and chic ambiance accented by a captivating mural, Sorellina quickly became a culinary landmark.

Before Sorellina, Mammano joined forces with Roiff at The Federalist, nestled within XV Beacon Hotel. This collaboration laid the groundwork for their next venture: Mooo…., a sophisticated steakhouse in Boston’s Back Bay, which opened its doors in August 2007.

Ostra, an ode to Mediterranean seafood, followed suit in November 2013. Ostra, located at One Charles Street South in Boston’s Back Bay, is a contemporary  restaurant. Inspired by local and European varieties of seafood, Chef/Owner Jamie Mammano focus on specialty seafood found throughout the Mediterranean and regions within the U.S. The light preparation of our cuisine highlights the natural and fresh flavors of each dish. 

In 2022, Columbus Hospitality Group expanded Mooo… with a new location in Boston’s bustling Seaport District, solidifying its status as a culinary mainstay. Additionally, the group transformed L’Andana into Mooo…Burlington, marking another milestone in their culinary journey.

With over 25 years of excellence, Columbus Hospitality Group, remains a beacon of fine dining in Boston, also overseeing esteemed establishments,  XV Beacon Hotel and The Inn @ St. Botolph.

ABOUT Chef Jamie

Since Chef Jamie Mammano opened Mistral’s doors in 1997, his culinary venture has soared to legendary status in Boston’s dining scene. A graduate of the Culinary Institute of America in New York, Jamie earned his stripes alongside esteemed chefs at The Jockey Club and Le Pavillion Restaurant in Washington DC, as well as during his tenure as the chef for the United States Ambassador to Spain. Over a decade at Four Seasons Hotel Company locations across the nation, including Washington DC, Seattle, Chicago, and Boston, he refined his craft.

As the Executive Chef at Four Seasons Hotel Boston, Jamie propelled its dining room, Aujourd’hui, to the top of the culinary ranks, securing the #1 spot in the Zagat Survey of Boston Restaurants in 1995. Subsequently, Boston Magazine readers voted Aujourd’hui as the city’s premier dining destination, while Condé Nast Traveler hailed it as the #4 restaurant in the nation.

Seeking fresh challenges, Jamie, alongside partners Paul Roiff and Seth Greenberg, conceptualized Mistral, a French/Mediterranean bistro nestled in Boston’s vibrant South End. From menu creation to staff selection, and from tableware curation to kitchen design, Jamie brought his dream restaurant to life. Since its inception, Mistral has consistently delivered outstanding cuisine and service, earning accolades such as “Top 25 New Restaurants in America” by Esquire Magazine and “Sexiest Bar” by Food & Wine, alongside four “Best of Boston” awards from Boston Magazine.

Jamie’s culinary prowess has graced national television screens, with appearances on NBC’s “Today Show” and CNN’s “On the Menu.” In June 1999, Nation’s Restaurant News recognized Mistral as one of the “5 Hottest Restaurants in Boston,” and shortly after, Jamie was invited as a guest chef at the prestigious James Beard House.

In November 2005, Paul made Jamie a partner in The Federalist, a testament to their shared success. The duo then launched Sorellina in January 2006, offering a modern twist on regional Italian-Mediterranean cuisine. The Federalist underwent a transformation in August 2007, becoming Mooo, a contemporary steakhouse located within the XV Beacon Hotel. L’Andana, focusing on Tuscan Wood-Grilled cuisine, opened its doors in Burlington, MA, in October 2007. In 2013, Mammano and Roiff introduced Ostra, a refined Mediterranean seafood restaurant, featuring an elegant dining room, a stylish bar, and a piano lounge, alongside exclusive private dining options.

Following the resounding success of Mooo… Beacon Hill as Boston’s premier steakhouse, Jamie and Paul expanded their culinary empire in February 2022, opening another Mooo… location in Seaport on Melcher Street. Additionally, in July of the same year, L’Andana was reimagined as a third Mooo… destination, offering the city experience in Burlington, MA.
